Almost all of us love a bit of pickle with meals, but make it at home is a bit challenging as it is an effort-taking process. Here we are to tell you that you can make a lip-smacking and immunity-boosting pickle as well, right at home with very little effort and few ingredients. One of the main ingredients which you’ll be needing is the discarded parts of a watermelon or the watermelon pith.

Watermelon pith pieces enough to fill a 1 liter glass jar
1.5-2 tbsp – Yellow mustard powder
2-3 tsp – Red chilli powder
1 tsp – Salt
1 tsp – Turmeric powder
*Peel of the watermelon and cut the white pith into thin strips.
*On the other side, boil one liter of water and let it cool down for some time.
*Mix all the ingredients together in a glass jar and pour the boiled water to it.
*Close the lid tightly and keep it under sunlight. Shake it once every two days. It takes usually two or three days to get pickled.
*The sour taste of the pickle and slightly translucent appearance of the pith pieces with a pleasant fermented aroma are the indication that the pickle is ready to have.
* Have it with paratha or khichdi.
